Started in 1982, The Thymes grew out of a simple love of nature, a passion for art, and a desire to help women and men find beauty and balance in their lives.

It was in the kitchen of her small home that founder Leslie Ross Lentz first began concocting richly fragrant products, blended from ingredients found in her garden, bought at the farmer's markets, or in specialty shops. Each product, individually hand wrapped with Japanese papers and tied with ribbons, were transformed into small works of art. Thus, The Thymes was born.

After teaming up with a business partner, the company grew to meet the growing demands for products. The philosophy which started the company, however, remains the same today: creating natural products which help men and women find beauty and balance in the lives. Being a women owned company, the owners of The Thymes like to think this is why so many women feel a special, deeply personal connection to their products.
